Your Eyes and Ears at the Nation's Capital

Stand Up in Faith!

The Church is facing a Mount Carmel hour…… 1 Kings 18:18-40 America is at a “tipping point” and only a Spiritual Transformation can save us….God will only heal our land when we fulfill 2 Chron. 7:14, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

This is an Hour to stand up for “such a time as this.” (Esther in 4:14)  During this critical hour in America, it’s imperative that we unite our voices in prayer. And, we are excited to report this is happening at the nation’s capital, across the nation, and around the globe! But, the biggest battle still lies ahead!

Here is a sampling of the prayer activity…..It is a heartwarming experience for us to be involved in these events.

[1] 39th March for Life | January 23 |Pro-Life Groups gather the entire week to pray and then unite together to the annual March for Life, and rallies in front of the Supreme Court. Thousands of abortion opponents marched to the Supreme Court on Monday to oppose the 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision to legalize abortion. Busloads of Catholic schoolchildren from across the metropolitan area and the country joined the march.

[2] U.S. Supreme Court | March 23-28 | “Stand Up for Religious Freedom–Stop the HHS Mandate!” | Sponsored by ProLife Groups and Prayer Ministries. These rallies were called a Mount Carmel encounter. (1 Kings 18:18-40) A “Nationwide Rally for Religious Freedom” was held Friday, March 23 at noon, outside federal buildings in Washington, DC and across the nation.

Tea Partyers and prayer groups kept a 3-Day vigil outside the Supreme Court building from March 26-28. This is the first time we have seen Christian leaders praying together who have been at odds with one another or distanced by various indifferences. Numerous members of the U.S. Congress walked across from the Capitol and joined them.

[3] 61st National Day of Prayer | May 3 | Theme: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12)  Each year, millions of believers across our great nation join together to worship and pray on the National Day of Prayer. A morning national event is held at the U.S. Capitol and in the afternoon a local gathering for Washington, DC is held on the West steps of the U.S. Capitol. Local prayer gatherings are held across the nation. President Obama is the first president to not recognize the National Day of Prayer. Website: http://nationaldayofprayer.org/

[4] Annual Israel Solidarity Gathering | May 4 | Israeli Embassy, Washington, DC | Invitation Only | Church leaders meet with Israeli leaders to show their support of Israel and the Jewish people. The Israeli ambassador always addresses this group along with other special speakers.

[5] Global Day of Prayer | 27 May | Originates in South Africa and goes around the globe. We must never think it a trivial, time consuming matter but rather something so significant in the Spiritual realm that it is impossible to ignore. This event calls all Christians to unified prayer for our communities, our cities, our nations and our world.

[6] Catholic Bishops | Fasting and Prayer | June 20 – July 4th | The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops issued a document, titled “Our First, Most Cherished Liberty,” warning all Americans to be watchful of government attempts to take away religious liberties. The bishops have scheduled what they call a “fortnight for freedom,” in the two weeks before Fourth of July. Article: http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2012/April/BISHOPS-RELIGIOUS-LIBERTY/

This the Tipping Point for the Nation…..The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops issued a document, titled “Our First, Most Cherished Liberty,” warning all Americans to be watchful of government attempts to take away religious liberties. “Never has the federal government forced individuals or organizations to go out into the marketplace and buy a product that violates their conscience,” Cardinal Timothy Dolan said.

[6] USA Solemn Assembly | July 1-4 | Annual fasting and prayer for America. Praying people across America join together in churches and prayer gatherings to call America back to God. (2 Chronicles 7:14)  Website: www.embassyforworldpeace.org

[7] America for Jesus / Philadelphia | September 28-29 | A solemn assembly & National Prayer Event | Visit: http://www.afj2012.org/

[8] ASLPN | African Strategic Leadership Prayer Network | ‘A Call to Prayer for America’ in front of the U.S. Capitol | October 20 | ASLPN partners with the Awakening America Alliance by mobilizing the African Leadership to prayer. Website: http://aslpn.org

We are called to be the praying church…..So goes the church, so goes the nation! “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.” (Ezekiel 22:30)
