Russia Checkmates US in Proxy War
President Shimon Peres, one of Israel’s most brilliant minds, has noted that the wars of the 21st century are proxy wars. His point was that superpowers no longer engage in face-to-face combat, but instead use proxies to achieve their goals.
Since its rebirth in 1948, Israel has been a proxy for the United States. It was engaged by the US government for decades to deter communism and kept the US out of the Middle East. The September 11th attack on US soil drew America into the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and after 12 years, the American people have no appetite to get involved in Syria’s civil war. They understand that the Obama administration’s attempt to target Syria with “a shot across the bow” will only develop into a full confrontation.
Leaders of Syria and Iran have positioned their Hizballah terrorist network in Lebanon to strike Israel. It is funded by Iran and has taken the side of the government in the Syrian civil war.
Russia and Iran are a serious threat to Israel and the U. S. through Syria. Iran has long been one of the most important and dangerous sponsors of terrorism in the world. Iran is currently engaged in a proxy war with Israel through their Shia terrorist group Hizballah. Iran’s Quds Force has recently been implicated in a series of terror attacks against Western targets. Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has ordered their Revolutionary Guards to intensify its campaign of terror attacks against the West and its allies in retaliation for supporting the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad in Syria. Damascus is Iran’s most important regional ally, and the survival of the Assad regime is regarded as vital to sustaining the Iranian-backed Hizbollah militia which controls southern Lebanon.
During a press conference at the 2013 G20 Summit, Vladimir Putin offered a scathing put down in response to David Cameron’s vain attempt to portray the Syrian rebels….. “Do you want to supply these rebel forces that kill their enemies and then eat their organs?” In the U. S. we should be asking our government, “Why are we funding and supplying these rebel terrorist groups.”
PRAY Proverbs 19:21 — “There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand.”
