Your Eyes and Ears at the Nation's Capital

Archive for the month “November, 2014”

Chrislam and apostasy will arise on a national level this Friday, November 14th, in the nation’s capital. The Washington National Cathedral, known for presidential funerals and other major spiritual services, will host a Muslim prayer service for the first time. The cathedral is part of the Episcopal Church and has long held high-profile interfaith events, but this is the first time Muslim leaders have held their midday services in such a visible Christian house of worship in the nation.

About 100 top Muslim leaders will be at the service, which will be spoken and chanted without music, and Muslim leaders will bring prayer carpets. Muslim advocacy organizations sponsoring the event are: (ADAMS) the All Dulles Area Muslim Society, (CAIR) the Council on American Islamic Relations, (ISNA) the Islamic Society of North America, (MPAC) Muslim Public Affairs Council, and the Masjid Muhammad mosque in NW Washington. All operate under the umbrella of the Muslim Brotherhood.

For Christians, this is a sad day in America. Congress designated the Washington National Cathedral as the “National House of Prayer.” It is the sixth-largest cathedral in the world, the second-largest in the United States, and the highest as well as the fourth-tallest structure in Washington, D.C.

With this Friday’s Muslim midday prayer service in the “National House of Prayer,” America has now digressed in the way of Europe to appease a religion that refuses to integrate, but would rather subjugate their adopted nation’s traditional values.

The Gatestone Institute reports that Muslims in Europe are increasingly converting empty Christian churches into mosques. The proliferation of mosques housed in former churches reflects the rise of Islam as the fastest growing religion in post-Christian Europe. There are now more practicing Muslims than practicing Christians in many parts of Europe, not only in large urban centers, but also in smaller towns and cities across the continent.

As Islam replaces Christianity as the dominant religion in Europe, more and more churches are set to become mosques, which increasingly serve not only as religious institutions, but also function as the foundational political building blocks for the establishment of separate, parallel Muslim communities in Europe that are based on Islamic Sharia law. Where is America headed? We continue to need God’s “divine intervention.” It is a time of struggle and trial and distress in our culture. Despite the election victory the nation just experienced; we need to pray like we’ve never prayed before. Prayerful intervention is called intercession. America needs a great revival and spiritual awakening.

Grumbling does not bring God’s kingdom rule to earth to intervene in the affairs of this world; only genuine persistent prayer brings divine intervention. Without the intervention of God’s kingdom rule through prayer, conditions in the Earth succumb to inevitable consequences.

It is midnight for the world. It is a darkened time of wars and rumors of war. Since the Syrian civil war began three years ago, a human holocaust has been underway through the ritualistic slaughter of Christians on a scale the world has ever seen in modern times. Syrian officials finally shut down human slaughter houses that were uncovered, where hundreds of Christians have been sacrificially slaughtered in the name of Allah. The Takfiri Jihadist group ISIS has been sweeping across Iraq, killing Muslims and crucifying Assyrian Christians who do not adhere to their Takfiri theology. An Islamic Caliphate must expunge other religious beliefs that would contaminate a pure Sharia society.

History repeats itself. This is precisely the same type of slaughter the Ottoman Turks performed during their infamous genocide of Christians at the beginning of World War I. Close to 3.5 million Christians of Assyrian, Armenian, or Greek Orthodox denominations were murdered by the Young Turks regime. To this day, the Turkish government ostensibly denies having committed this genocide. Yet, the full egregious truth goes untold. The genocide spanned from 1914 to 1923, and then from 1933 up to the present. This extermination of Christians was a precursor to the Jewish Holocaust in Europe during World War II. When the truth leaked out of Jews being slaughtered, no one wanted to listen, and after the war, people denied they knew what was going on.

God’s people need to go to the throne and seek divine intervention on behalf of the nations and mankind. Pray that America remain the “light of the world” spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Church became an instrument of prayer from the very beginning, and the best model for prayer is Jesus, our Lord and Savior. It is not an hour to be labeled “lukewarm.” In Luke, chapter 11, we read of Jesus teaching the disciples about prayer:

In verse 9, Jesus taught, “I say to you, ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.” Verse 13, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”

The best and most effective gift the heavenly Father can bless His children with is the Holy Spirit. Our first need is spiritual, and a closer relationship with God through the Holy Spirit assures that He will provide both spiritual and material needs. The Lord desires to pour out the Holy Spirit on those desirous of receiving. So, just ask, and you will receive.

What does the GOP “wave election” mean for America?

The election results are encouraging, not because a certain political party took control, but because of the many Christian candidates defending Biblical values sweeping into federal and state offices. The GOP made significant gains among minorities on Tuesday, but they need to do even better in 2016 if the radical tide is to be turned.

Voters turned out for their values. Voters turned out to push back radical efforts to attack the sanctity of life, the sanctity of natural marriage, religious freedom and deliberate actions to expand the federal government, to overspend and bankrupt the country. We need great leadership in Washington and our state capitals to make major reforms before it is too late. Voters spoke of the return of states’ rights over the nanny state.

We must pray they will govern the way they campaigned? Do they have the courage and patience to start turning the federal government in the right direction? Let us pray that they do, and let us work to keep their feet to the fire and make them accountable to the people.

Contra Media Narrative, Voters of Faith Still Matter

(Published on National Review Online)

“On Election Day, self-identified conservative Christians made up 32 percent of the electorate and voted 86 percent Republican and only 12 percent Democrat. These voters contributed an astonishing 52.4 percent of all the votes received by Republican candidates. This constituency, the largest and most vibrant in the electorate, is larger than the African-American vote, Hispanic vote, union vote, and gay vote combined. White Evangelicals, meanwhile, made up 23 percent of the electorate and voted 82 percent Republican and 18 percent Democratic, according to the survey. Glen Bolger of Public Opinion Strategies, commented on the findings. ‘Republicans rode the wave last night to stunning victories. Waves come from a committed base and a strong showing among swing voters,’ Bolger said. ‘Voters of faith — Protestant and Catholic — are the foundation of the GOP. Without their overwhelming support, there is no GOP majority. With their support, Republicans are celebrating a high tide in the U.S. Senate, House, and around the country.’”

Checks and Balances Return: GOP Vows to Use Power of the Purse

The Checks and Balances in the government have needed to be restored:

I have not seen the Constitutional checks and balance system operating within our government during my 30 years at the nation’s capital. But now, for the first time the American voters restored the ability to exercise this power to the U.S. Congress with its new majority.

The new Republican-led Senate plans to assert itself on foreign policy, putting pressure on President Obama in the one area where second-term presidents often enjoy considerable leeway. Although the president has the constitutional authority to execute foreign policy, the GOP Congress will seek to leverage its power where it can through legislation and the power of the purse, as well as through rhetoric.

One top Republican priority is a bill threatening Iran with new sanctions if a favorable comprehensive deal is not reached to end its nuclear program. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has refused to allow the bill to come to a vote, and its top Republican sponsor, Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Il.) is preparing to update it.

“A nuclear-armed Iran would pose the biggest long-term threat to America and allied national security, so Congress needs to immediately vote on the Menendez-Kirk legislation, a bipartisan bill to stop a nuclear Iran that already has 60 supporters in the Senate,” said Kirk, who worked on the bill with Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.).

“We renew our call for the administration to impose the toughest possible sanctions against Russia, provide long-requested weapons to Ukraine, and bolster further NATO preparedness in Eastern Europe,” said Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) in a joint statement this week with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).

There is much to be done to restore the balance of power within the three executive branches.

The Check and Balance system was created by the Founding Fathers to prevent the concentration of power in any one branch of government, to check and restrain government, and to protect the rights and liberties of citizens.

This essential framework of our American government limits dictatorial power and maintains oversight among the branches of government and the public. It helps to ensure that our government makes prudent decisions and protect our rights and the values and institutions of our nation.

Excessive secrecy in government and the abuse of power undermines the constitutionally-established system of checks and balances; which provides the transparency and accountability the system brings.

The Legislative Branch has the legal right to conduct investigations against the Executive Branch. The Constitution empowers Congress to use the “Power of the Purse” to bring Checks and Balances in restraining the Abuse of Power?

The U.S. Constitution’s system of Checks and Balances is designed to restrain any abuse of power by another branch of the Federal Government.

Why has the Legislative Branch not used the power of Checks and Balances to correct the obvious abuse of power in the IRS, NSA, the Judicial and Executive branch.

Through the Power of the Purse, Conservatives will be able to restrain bad provisions within the Affordable Health Care Act, better known as ObamaCare. This is made possible by design and the result of the Separation of Powers.

Nov 4th election results restore hope for Americans!

Hundreds of thousands of praying people across the nation humbled themselves and repented to God! There is such power in repentance. It brings back to us all that the cankerworm destroyed. God resurrects it all! This is His promise in Joel 2:25, ““So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.”

This promise is incredible! To repentant sinners the Lord declares, “Fear not . . . be glad and rejoice: for the Lord will do great things” (Joel 2:21). God is saying, “Walk before Me in righteousness now and turn from your sins, and I will make up all the losses, whether they were yours, your family’s, or Mine!”

But now, in Christ, all is new. All those blessings you missed were stored up. All the joy, peace, revelation and usefulness that you thought were dead and gone forever were actually kept by the Lord. They will now be restored!

Be steadfast! While all that is earthly is being shaken, and world governments are spinning out of control, the true Church of Christ must remain unshakeable.

Pray for public officials, according to 1 Timothy 2:1-4.

Pray for the sevenfold spirit to guide them according to Isaiah 11:2-4.

Gov. Jindal Invites Pastors to Join Him in LA to Pray

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal will host a major event for Christian Pastors called, “The Response-Louisiana: A Call to Prayer for a Nation in Crisis.” It will be held January 24th, 2015 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge.

Over 100,000 evangelical pastors are being invited by American Renewal Project leader David Lane. On January 24, 2015 Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal will host “The Response-Louisiana: A Call to Prayer for a Nation in Crisis.” As we fast and pray for America, we hope that you will join us at this special event, held at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge.

In addition to this Saturday event, we’re planning something special for the Friday too. We are asking 63,000 Evangelical pastors to begin praying to discern if God is calling you to run for political office in 2016.
Governor Jindal’s prominent attendees include Oklahoma Senator-Elect James Lankford, former congressman J.C. Watts, Pastor Rob McCoy (who is narrowly losing his race for a seat in the California Assembly) and Dr. Bruce K. Waltke, Old Testament Scholar and Professor Emeritus of Biblical Studies, Regent College. He’ll be teaching the pastors about “Proverbs and Politics.”

ObamaCare Nov. 15th Deadline: Will your coverage pay for abortions?

Now that pro-lifers have taken control of the Senate, the House, and governors’ races nationwide, abortion radicals are reeling. Open enrollment for Obamacare is right around the corner. With a November 15 start date, Americans deserve to know whether the plans they’re considering on the insurance exchange cover elective abortion and if so, how much they are paying for the abortion coverage, and how the abortion surcharge will be billed. Arina Grossu is Director of the Center for Human Dignity at Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. Her article Obamacare Needs Transparency on Abortion Coverage, appeared on ChristianHeadlines.com on September 15, 2014:

Arina’s report indicates: “Obamacare’s abortion subsidy section contains a secrecy clause and it requires a person who signs up for a plan that covers elective abortion to pay an abortion surcharge of at least $12 per year. We investigated Colorado, for example, and discovered that it was very difficult to obtain accurate information.

“The Colorado state exchange website lists seven insurers, but two additional insurers have insurance plans also linked to the exchange website (Colorado Choice and Denver Health Medical Plan are not listed as carriers). There are a total of 97 plans that we could find, even though only 85 are listed in the main search.

“Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO Colorado (14 exchange plans, Colorado Choice (12 exchange plans), and Denver Health Medical Plan (four exchange plans), and Access Health Colorado (six exchange plans) seem to only have pro-life plans according to the representatives and the website. But that’s where the clarity ends.”

Section 1303(b)(3)(A) of the Affordable Care Act contains a clause stating that the insurer “shall provide a notice to enrollees, only as part of the summary of benefits and coverage explanation, at the time of enrollment, of such coverage” (emphasis added). The law is deliberately written, in other words, to make it difficult to get this information.

Americans in 25 states who have been able to opt out of abortion coverage still pay federal taxes and that revenue is used by the Obama administration to subsidize health plans with elective abortion coverage elsewhere. There’s no way around it: Taxpayer funds are being used to pay for abortion.

How can Americans get clear answers on this? Congress should pass Representative Chris Smith’s “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act,” which would ensure that Americans get clear answers about abortion coverage when purchasing plans and that no taxpayer money goes to pay for abortions. That status quo, whatever defenders of Obamacare say, isn’t acceptable.

We the People…..

The Nov. 4th election results indicate that America is waking up! Thank you for engaging in prayer and exercising the privilege of voting. Our newly elected leaders will now have an opportunity to serve the people of this nation for such a time as this. Now is the time to double our efforts, to pray for our elected leaders, to support every effort to uphold our Constitutional freedoms and assure that America’s policies reflect the Judeo-Christian values on which it was founded.

Republicans sealed control of the Senate with more than six seats needed, a momentum Reuters suggested the GOP owes to evangelical voters.

FOX News exit polls showed that nearly 60 percent of voters who identified themselves as Protestant or Christian also identified themselves as Republican.

The Public Opinion Strategists survey reported the exit polls confirm that

1 out of 3 voters were evangelicals, and 86% voted Republican. This constituency continues to be the cornerstone of the GOP vote. This is larger than the African-American vote, the Hispanic vote, and the gay vote combined.

Forty-nine percent of evangelicals said they had a great deal of interest in the midterm elections, compared to 38 percent of other voters. Pollster George Barna estimates there are 77 million evangelical and Catholic voters in America. About 30.6 million of them supported Mitt Romney in 2012, and 20 million voted for the President.

But the troubling number is the 26 million who didn’t bother to vote at all.

A recent Pew Research study found 56 percent of Americans feel religion is losing influence in American life and say that’s a bad thing. That same study showed 49 percent of adults feel churches should express their views on social and political questions. That is up 6 percent from four years ago.’’

Lea Carawan, Executive Director of the Congressional Prayer Caucus posted this message for God’s praying people:

Our Founders and other great leaders engraved in America’s history have laid the groundwork for success:  1) invite God to intervene in the affairs of men through prayer, 2) live and lead according to the principles that promote self-government and cultural engagement, 3) trust in God to guide America through challenging circumstances.

PRAY for the well being of our government leaders, whether we agree with them or not.

1 Timothy 2:1-2, “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”
