Prayer & Religious Freedom Issues from Capitol Hill

The following Prayer Updates are from the Congressional Prayer Caucus, Capitol Hill, Washington, D. C.  (Links are included to pray for government leaders by name.)

Supreme Court Marriage Case: Liberty Institute Files Brief On Behalf Of Defending Traditional Marriage  “…on behalf of prominent religious organizations, public speakers, and scholars, Liberty Institute filed an amicus brief in the historic United States Supreme Court case, Obergefell v. Hodges, which could determine the future of marriage laws in the United States. In the brief, Liberty Institute asks the Justices to affirm the Sixth Circuit decision upholding marriage laws in Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee, and to expressly affirm the First Amendment free speech rights of Christian ministers, teachers, and leaders who are compelled by faith and conscience to preach and speak aloud their millennia-old and sincerely held religious view that marriage is the sacred union of one man and one woman. Read the brief:

Pray For Our President And All Those In Authority…..  “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” (1 Timothy 2:1-3) (Pray Psalm 91 for protection.)

American Prayer Caucus Network

Much of the legislation affecting freedom of religion begins in individual states. Pray for each state to be effective in protecting our Judeo-Christian heritage and religious liberty. Pray for the 500+ state legislators and State Directors and for an effective Prayer Caucus in every state. (APCN is a division of the Congressional Prayer Caucus)

Washington: A Man Of Prayer – April 29th

This year, 7:30 p.m. on April 29 2015, Co-chairmen Representative Randy Forbes and Senator James Lankford will host Washington – A Man of Prayer. The program will be televised from Statuary Hall and available via Daystar Television Network and Internet streaming proudly provided by WND.com to homes and churches all across America for the first time. This event will take place in the U.S. Capitol Statuary Hall. Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Speaker John Boehner have been instrumental to open Statuary Hall for Church gatherings for the first time in 100 years. Gohmert said, “It is a long-forgotten fact of history that shows just how far the modern interpretation of the separation of church and state has strayed from the original intent of the founders.” The first Washington – Man of Prayer meeting was held three years ago with Gov. Mike Huckabee moderating and Rabbi Jonathan Cahn as the keynote speaker. Dr. Alveda King, David Barton, Jim Garlow and Harry Jackson were among other speakers.  Read more about the revival of worship services begun by Founding Fathers
