Passover: Pray For Peace And Safety In Israel
A few days before the Passover holiday begins, a busload of people in Jerusalem were set ablaze by a terrorist in the back of the bus. When everyone is busy preparing for the Festival of Freedom, Israel’s enemies are seeking specifically at this time to attack the joy of the celebration.
On Monday evening, April 18th, a bomb went off in a crowded bus in Jerusalem, showering passengers trapped inside with deadly shrapnel and setting it ablaze. This was the first bombing in eight years and the first bus bombing in almost twelve. It may be a sign the Palestinians intend to escalate their efforts to attack Israelis just as the country is breathing a sigh of relief after what seemed to be an easing off of terror.
First responders said, “It was “a miracle there are no dead. It is only by a miracle that no one was killed in such a difficult attack. This could have ended in a much worse catastrophe, God forbid.”
Biden Slams Netanyahu Hours After Jerusalem Bus Bombing
Hours after a bus bombing in Jerusalem that wounded at least 21 Israeli’s, Vice President Joe Biden said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government was leading the country “in the wrong direction.”
Biden did single out Palestinian leaders, including Mahmoud Abbas, for declining to condemn specific acts of terrorism carried out against Israelis, but saved his harshest words for Israeli officials.
“I firmly believe that the actions that Israel’s government has taken over the past several years – the steady and systematic expansion of settlements, the legalization of outposts, land seizures – they’re moving us, and, more importantly, they’re moving Israel in the wrong direction,” Biden said.
Pending Anti-Israel Resolutions at UNSC
U.S. State Department Spokesman Mark Toner attempted to end speculation this week about the possibility that the U.S. would avoid using its veto at the UN Security Council regarding pending anti-Israel resolutions. “Our position hasn’t changed in terms of action on this issue at the UN Security Council,” he told reporters during the daily press briefing Tuesday. “We continue to oppose one-sided resolutions that delegitimize Israel or undermine its security, but we are not going to speculate on hypothetical resolutions or other actions by the Security Council at this time,” added Edgar Vasquez, an official at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, in remarks to the Jerusalem Post on Wednesday. “We will carefully consider our future engagement if and when we reach that point, and determine how to most effectively advance the objective we all share in achieving a negotiated two-state solution.”
The White House, however, has yet to issue such an unequivocal statement.
Prayer: Father, the nation as a whole supports Israel, and we pray for your mercy and grace from the Obama administration’s actions against Israel, and their failed policies in the Middle East. (Obadiah 1:15)
Pray for Israel, that her enemies would fall into their own evil traps (Psalm 35).
Pray For America To Stand With Israel
O Lord, help America and the Church to stand with Israel as she faces anti-Semitism and her enemies in the Middle East. We ask you O Lord, please cause our leaders to support Israel. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes” (Proverbs 21:1).
