This month I was privileged to take part in a television special “One Nation Under God” produced at Cornerstone TeleVision in Pittsburgh, PA. The one-hour program will begin airing across the nation on July 3rd and will run through September 11th.
God’s grace has been presented to the Church in America for a little “space in time,” to give God’s people a “nail” in this once holy land called America, that our God may “lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in [the] bondage,” that was steadily encroaching upon our lives (Ezra 9:7-11).
God has indeed given us “a reviving” of hope, to “restore His house,” which is the Church, “and to repair the desolations thereof.” O Lord, open our eyes that we may see and understand the desolation of your House in America, for “we have forsaken thy commandments” in ways we do not know.
Evangelist Billy Graham says, “Many Americans have been developing a designer religion based on what ‘fits in’ with their individual preferences. People frequently search anything but God. Many people do not want to face the truth of the Gospel. They water it down to a myth, causing young and old to doubt the authority of the Bible. We as a nation have turned our back on God who blessed our country because its fundamental principles were grounded in the Word of God. People want designer religion, but I pray that they instead will submit to their Creator who longs to become their God and Savior. He has designed eternal life in Heaven for all those who receive His salvation.”
Graham continues, “We as a nation have turned our back on God who blessed our country because its fundamental principles were grounded in the Word of God.” America’s Founders carried out plans and hopes with the aid of prayer.
“If this nation was born in a meeting based on prayer — some of its most important decisions being made only after careful prayer to God — how can we go on unless there is renewed emphasis on prayer today?” Graham asked.
Billy Graham says the solution for America is simple: “Americans must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They will not only find eternal salvation, but America will remain a great nation.”
